Natural newborn session with Adelaide

Updated: May 13, 2020

I feel honoured that a baby's first outing is often to my studio for their newborn photos. I am very aware of how hard it can be to get out of the house at all, and at a specific time feels like such an impossibility. That's why I am always sure to say to my families to not worry if they are running a bit late, and I truly mean it. I get it and I don't mind!

I usually start with family photos. I wrapped up sweet little Adelaide put her in her parents arms. I tell families not to look at me, just to concentrate on their baby and then we are able to get these lovely connected moments.

I really love to get individual photos of both parents with the baby. So I invited Adelaide's Mum and Dad to hold her and smooch her in a couple of different ways so we could get these precious moments.

Next I worked with Adelaide on my newborn bean bag. I kept her wrapped up to start with . Her parents brought along a special toy that had been given to her by her grandparents so it was really important to capture that as well.

Then I slowly unwrapped her bit by bit, capturing those tiny details and the stretching of her arms and legs.

Finally, she opened her sweet newborn eyes and I was able to capture this which I think is my favourite from this session. So much to see and take in and brand new eyes that are just getting used to it all and learning how to focus.

Welcome to the world Adelaide. It was so lovely to meet you xx
